A SAVIOR’S GOTTA DO…
It is inspiring to see someone who heroically is willing to do what they have to do for the sake of someone else. As Jesus set His course to go to Calvary, we see that He was the: I. Right Man A. Jesus was the only One Who could provide atonement as our substitute and representative (Rom. 3:25) 1. Messianic prophecy was fulfilled through the sinless, mediating Son of God and His final sacrifice (16:16; Isa. 53; II Cor. 5:21; I Tim. 2:5) B. The divine mindset trumps the human mindset 1. God’s love and justice were fulfilled through the cross (Ps. 101:1) II. Right Mission A. Sinful mankind could only be saved and come to the Father through the Son (Lk. 13:31- 33; Matt. 21:9; Acts 4:12) 1. It’s a life or death predicament (Rom. 6:23) B. The eternal perspective trumps the transient perspective (Heb. 12:2) 1. Worldly gains mean nothing compared to a lost soul (16:26) III. Right Motivation A. Driven by, not just duty, but love, He could not be dissuaded from fulfilling His mission, even by his “adversary” (Jn. 15:9,13) 1. Despite agony, reluctance and perhaps even fear, compassion compelled Him to lay down His life (Lk. 22:42-44; Job 2:4) B. The value of humanity trumped the value of His heavenly position (Eph. 2:6-9) 1. He wants us to overcome death, just like Him (I Cor. 15:22) As committed disciples of Christ, we must not be diverted from doing what must be done (16:24)

Genesis 16:7-16
There may be times when some, including moms, feel like they’re invisible and no one is noticing us- even God. Hagar comes to realize that with the “God Who sees us” He: I. Is Aware of Our Situations A. Hagar’s life was horrible as a “single mom” in slavery being used and abused leaving her in fearful despair in the middle of nowhere (Ex. 1:11,14; 2:23-24; Prov. 15:3; Ps. 139:1-4) 1. He knows about not only our present, but what the future holds for us and our children (Isa. 46:10; Ps. 139:16) II. Shares with Us in Our Struggles A. Even with those seen as unimportant, He knows us personally (Isa. 43:1; I Sam. 16:7) 1. Whether our hardship is undeserved or we bear some responsibility, He empathizes with our suffering (Gen. 21:9-10,16-17; Ex. 2:25; Heb. 4:15) III. Shows He Cares About Us A. We can never run away from Jehovah Jireh even as He calls us back to fulfill our responsibilities (Ps. 139:7-12; Ps. 17:8; Gen. 22:14; Col. 3:22-23) 1. God will be with anyone as sometimes He even allows us to see Him (Gen. 21:19-20; II Cor. 3:18) In all of our relationships, we need to strive to be like God as we see and remember others, including mothers (Matt. 5:48; Eph. 5:1)

Luke 24:13-35
Sometimes it can be hard to recognize someone we know, especially if they pretend to be someone else (Matt. 13:15). We may be discouraged with our hopes dashed until we see Jesus revealed: I. On Our Walk A. Even if we don’t realize it, He is with us all the time (Matt. 28:20; Jn. 15:26) 1. He still pursues us and draws close initiating a relationship, wanting to journey with us (Lk. 15:4; I Jn. 4:19; Deut. 4:29) II. In The Word A. Prophecy shows Jesus is more than many think and His “failure” is actually success (Lk. 18:31-34; Ps. 16:9-11; Job 19:25) 1. Some believe in a crucified Savior, but not a risen Lord B. There can be burning hearts and understanding when we see Jesus disclosed throughout the Bible III. In Our Witness A. As we commune with Him and others, we can recognize Him in the “breaking of bread” (Matt. 18:20; Lk. 22:19) 1. The Lord’s Supper tells others of His death until He returns (I Cor. 11:26) 2. If we invite Him in, we can share in intimate fellowship celebrating His and our victory over death (Rev. 3:20-21) Hope is restored as eyes once opened to sin are now opened to joyously see our resurrected Lord (Gen. 3:5,7; Isa. 32:3; Jn. 9:25)
